Good luck

    • I don’t know about DDX715WBT. Have you try like the video? Basically, there are two steps of changing opening screen. First, making OpeningCustomize.txt. You also need a-800 x 480-BMP 16-bit-RGB565 picture. The second is the right combination buttons to enter customize mode menu. Seri 7 uses volume down + Menu + reset buttons. Seri 5 uses Eject + AV + reset buttons. Seri 8/9 uses volume down + Home + reset buttons. Seri 5 & 7 require step 1 & 2. Seri 8 & 9 require only step 2 because they have option to select pictures from customize mode menu.

So, to enter customize mode menu, you have to try which combination is fit for your DDX715WBT. Good luck.

    • Basically the same with some discrepancies. First you have to create image of 800 x 480 BMP file;16-bit and select the RGB settings to R5 G6 B5. Once the image is finished place it on a blank USB flash drive and plug it into the USB of the Kenwood receiver.

To enter background menu is almost the same. Press and hold the Volume Down and Home buttons and Reset the receiver. Let go of the Reset, but continue holding the Volume Down and Home buttons until the screen turns on. The screen will display Opening Customize. Select OEM Image and the screen will then display the image from the USB drive. Select on the image to load it.

Once the image is selected it will display full screen. Press the Enter icon on the screen and the image will start to load. Wait for the image to load.

Follow the remaining on screen instruction “Please Power Off”

To revert back to the original Kenwood startup screen go to step 2 and select “Kenwood Image”, this will erase the custom image saved to the startup screen.

This method is for 2014 DNN991HD but since they both are identical (2015 DNN992HD), I think you can use it. Good luck.
